About Septarian Nodule: Septarian nodules form as a type of concretion in sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary rocks are formed by layers of sediments that deposit and then compact over time. Septarian nodules are believed to form during the initial stages of sediment compaction and hardening 1. More specifically, septarian nodules result from the formation of cracks in the sedimentary rock due to volcanic activity, bacterial actions, or shrinkage as the sediments dry out. These cracks then fill with mineral-rich fluids, which crystallize and form the characteristic patterns seen in septarian nodules 2. Septarian nodules consist of at least two minerals in every case, typically calcite, and another carbonate-rich mineral.^[1]
