Astroid Impact Melt Breccia - Polished on Front to showcase the impact breccia.
From: Northwest Africa
Size: 2.1" x 2.5"

This beautiful specimen experienced extensive shock when hit by an asteroid, and it quite literally preserved its remarkable experience in stone. The result of the melting of its mass, and then filling in the cracks and space between the pebbles left behind created this naturally self healed stone. Surviving relict portions of the target material are seen as the larger orbicular particles in this stone, while the darker grays are newer material filled in around the impact stone during the melting process refusing the stone back together.
