Types of White Turquoise:
White Turquoise is actually a variety of stones that are marketed as "white turquoise" for the sake of making jewelry. The original term came from White Buffalo Turquoise which is a trademarked term referring to a specific dolomite stone found in Tonopah, Nevada. Since being marketed as a gemstone Dolomite from around the world has hit the market as White Turquoise, White & Brown Turquoise, Buffalo Turquoise, and a variety of other names. In order to qualify as White Buffalo Turquoise it has to be mined from the White Buffalo mine in Tonopah as that name is privately owned under trademark. So unless it is sold through that mine it is not technically White Buffalo Turquoise but is still the same Dolomite material.
